SENIOR DRIVERS SAVE $$$ AND STAY SAFE WHILE DRIVING
The Minnesota Safety Council Sr Defensive Driving class will be offered in Walker at the WACC on Wednesday May 14th from 9 to noon. Certified instructor Steve Johnson and his wife Terry, a career educator in elementary education, offer a fast-moving and interesting look at issues and dangers facing drivers over the age of 55. State law provides that those who attend the class will receive a 10% reduction in their car insurance for 3 years. A 2024 change in the regulations eliminates the need for an 8 hour introductory class, and the class offered is for all seniors who want the discount.
The class focuses on local driving dangers and conditions, has frequent bathroom breaks, and offers complimentary bottled water and cookies. At the end of the class, certificates are given to the participants to forward to their insurance agent to get the rate discount. Cost of the class is $25 cash or check and is paid at the door.
